Dorcus parallelipipedus - 20-32mm. not common in central and north Israel. in the pictures: females. male have
a larger head and bigger nibs. there are another 2 species of this family in Israel, one of them is the rare Lucanus
cervus syriacus (below) which is found in Golan Hights and Ramim Mountains.
