On the 3rd and 10th of this month I was traveling to the Judean Hills (from Ben-Shemen forest to Jerusalem area). The shortage of rains this year and sunny days brought many plants to flower early. Only Beetles found are Carabus impressus, Calathus sps, Staphylinidae sps - all under stones. also a beautiful and very large Lampyridae larva. In dung only the smallest Onthophagus and Aphodius species. If nothing will change soon we will have an early and unpredicted season of insects. I am now waiting for Oxythyrea and Tropinota sps to emerge in my area to see how early they will appear this year. interesting but still very sad. | |
