This one was photographed on December 25, 2009 near Aviel (Carmel area) feeding on Rubia tenuifolia (Dveka Metzuia). Is it Macroglossum stellatarum (Rafraf Hadveka)? - I cannot find it on the web. Thank you for identifying it for me. | |

Thank you very much, Oz. I find it interesting to mention that in the vicinity of this caterpillar there was an adult Macroglossum female humming and hovering around, flying from one Rubia plant to the other, and it looked to me as if she is laying eggs. Is the presence of differnt generations (i.e. a mature female and a caterpillar) aside is a common phenomenon? | |

It surely is. You can find many times eggs, pupae and larvae in different stages on a same plant. | |
