X.globosa (Cerambycidae) was imported lately to Isreal and spread very fast (I have the article if someone is interested). I had suspected that adults are active here mostly during the cold season. Near my house in Rishon-Lezion, I visit a number of infested trees regulary in order to learn the life cycle in Israel. Today the first adults emerged and by breaking some branches that fell (weak and mostly hollowed by larvae) I managed to obtain some pupae as well as adults (still inside the pupation chamber). I attach photos from today. Also in the same trees are pupation chambers of Protaetia cuprea and some other Brentidae specimens. An interesting tree to search...(not mentioning other variety of other insects and spiders). | |
